Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor-Out Patient Billing.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the direct supervision of Revenue Cycle Operations staff and for ensuring quality outcomes. Duties and responsibilities of the Supervisor include, but are not limited to: (1) personnel management, (2) total account resolution from cashiering, registration, charge capture and billing to account follow-up, (3) ensuring optimal customer relations, (4) maximizing cash collection, (5) ensuring quality cash services

Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise team operations, maintain productivity standards, manage correspondence, monitor attendance, and works collaboratively with manager to support all department initiatives.
  • Serve as a coach, mentor, team builder and facilitator, while taking appropriate steps to address issues.
  • Assist with providing constructive feedback to address performance deficiencies and develop training tools;
  • Develop and maintain training plans, provide feedback on needs, and supply training tools.
  • Perform data mining and in-depth accounts receivable analysis, analyze open balances, ensure accurate payment posting, complete follow-up actions, identify criteria for reports, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Submit accurate claims to third-party carriers promptly, use electronic follow-up systems, confirm and re-bill claims, monitor compliance with billing time limits, and troubleshoot problematic accounts.
  • Review accounts and remittances, verify charge posting, analyze balances, document actions, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Ensures cash optimization and accounts receivable reduction activity is functioning to fullest capability.
  • Oversee resubmissions and ensure the department is maximizing reimbursement to efficiently lower A/R and speed-up revenue cycle.
  • Utilizes previous experience in adjudication of bills, and accounts receivable functions. Resolves billing and collections issues.
  • Commit to high-level customer service and provide correct information as needed.
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely and organized manner.
  • Adhere to policies, including HIPAA, and track goals quarterly.


Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field, along with three years or more of relevant experience. Candidates must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, along with prior experience using personal computers and various office equipment. Strong leadership and supervisory abilities are essential, as well as good judgment in handling issues. Applicants should have strong analytical skills, a professional demeanor in interactions with patients and staff, and proven interpersonal skills. The ability to effectively problem solves and make independent decisions is also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
Progressive supervisory experience in a large healthcare setting, managing multiple sites, and leading diverse teams towards a customer-centered approach. Candidates should be familiar with online financial systems and have basic desktop publishing skills. Revenue Cycle Operations managerial experience is a plus.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 - $82,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
