Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Procurement Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for the purchase and contracting of various types of material, equipment, supplies, and services for new hotel construction and operating hotels as needed, in a manner consistent with Drury Hotels standards of excellence and cost effectiveness.

Job Functions:

* Locate, screen, and qualify vendors and determine their suitability to conduct business in accord with company needs and requirements.

* Analyze markets and logistics in order to assess present and future material availability.

* Negotiate contracts and purchasing agreements as needed.

* Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders as needed.

* Perform evaluations of potential new products through company established testing process.

* Resolve vendor issues and customer claims in expeditious and appropriate manner per policy.

* Prepare reports regarding market conditions and material costs.

* Forecast, plan, and purchase needed materials in a timely and cost efficient manner with the use of Workday and/or other forecasting software resulting in meeting demand with minimal inventory investment.

* Attend trade shows and conferences as required.

* Train, develop, and supervise direct report team members. Assist in goal-setting and provide feedback on a continual basis. Conduct annual performance review, and offer guidance and support on work-related issues on an as-needed basis.

* Conduct all activities in accordance with budgetary guidelines and company policies and procedures.

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and Workday

* Solid understanding of procurement concepts and techniques

* Effective problem solving/critical thinking skills

* Strong interpersonal skills

* Ability to learn about a wide spectrum of products regarding their specifications, application, and performance expectations.

* Keen attention to detail; Results driven

* Operational knowledge of Drury Hotels Company

Education and Experience:

Education: Required Bachelor degree in business related area or equivalent experience.

Experience: One to three years of purchasing experience, preferably in contract negotiation.

Mental and Physical Requirements

* Requires ability to relate to the public and team members in a warm, friendly manner contributing to a hospitable team environment.

* Requires keen attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.

* Requires the ability to apply reasonable business skills and knowledge and make sound decisions regarding job responsibilities.

* Requires ability to maintain effective working relationships with vendors, customers, and other Drury team members.

* Must have the ability to work efficiently and independently.
