The Construction and Maintenance Project Lead directly contributes to the agency's mission to improve public safety by positively changing lives by keeping critical infrastructure, equipment, and security systems in functional working order which contributes to the overall safety and security of the reentry center, staff, incarcerated individuals, and the community. Under the direction of the Reentry Center Manager, the Construction and Maintenance Project Lead maintains and oversees maintenance and construction projects at the Reentry Center.

The CMPL directly manages and supervises all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair of the building grounds, plumbing, electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment to ensure the building and all items inside the facility are in good working order. The CMPL is also responsible for overseeing the mechanical systems, boilers, hot water tanks, refrigeration, and the HVAC systems. The CMPL will develop and plan long range preventative maintenance programs, prepare reports, and develop capital project requests which are critical to sustaining buildings and equipment. The CMPL operationalizes the Reentry Division purpose of providing individuals with the tools and resources to successfully transition back into the community by ensuring residents have a safe and well-maintained facility throughout the duration of their stay.

Duties of a Construction and Maintenance Project Lead include, but are not limited to:

Direct and provide oversight for staff, contractors and residents engaged in construction projects on new and existing buildings, grounds, structures, walkways and fences:

* Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority.
* Assist in the design of equipment, evaluate and recommend purchases, fabrication, and or/or modification of equipment.
* Perform duties of a Construction and Maintenance Mechanic

Complete assigned maintenance work orders relating to building, grounds and equipment maintenance and repairs, maintaining facility in good working order 24/7:

* Review Asset Planner on daily basis for work orders. Prioritize the work orders and complete based on safety and security issues.
* Completes and/or schedules preventive maintenance, as scheduled, on related equipment and vehicles.
* Performs work installation, electrical, steam, heating, domestic and irrigation water pump systems, carpentry, painting, and hardware (lock devices and keys).

Provide and maintains records relating to the maintenance of the facility and work performed:

* Conduct monthly and quarterly safety and sanitation checks.
* Safety Manager and Hazcom Manager
* Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications:
* Valid WA State Driver's License
* High School Diploma or GED equivalentAND
* Two (2) years as a Construction and Maintenance Project Specialist

OR

* Three (3) years as a General Repairer

OR

* Four (4) years of journey-level experience in two or more of the construction or building trades. Vocational training up to two years may be substituted for this experience.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

* Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
* Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
* Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training.
* Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections.
* Become familiar and comply with all Department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
* Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
* Maintain a valid driver's license.
* Complete Correctional Worker Core.
* Position is included in a union shop.
* In an emergency situation, employees may be asked to stay for an extended period of time to perform duties appropriate to the situation.

* Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire.
