Summary

This position will be responsible for supervising maintenance personnel in tasks including general upkeep of the facility and all operational equipment, machinery, and vehicles. This will include interpreting Port Service Bulletins, performing inspections, training techs and mechanics in specific functions as well as running system diagnostics and replacing/repairing defective components.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule and prioritize staff assignments, train personnel and supervise safe practices of assignments to completion
  • Ensure detail written work orders and documentation of service records (MaintainX)
  • Create bill of material (BOM), record labor time, and enter purchase orders for required materials
  • Interact professionally with all departments, employees, customers, contractors, vendors and other port personnel
  • Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams
  • Oversee Technicians and contractors performing maintenance and repairs to facility systems including car wash systems, HVAC, automatic doors, air compressors, forklifts, hydraulic pumps, buck loaders, etc.
  • Maintain proper certifications, wheel loader, forklift, TWIC, as necessary
  • Troubleshooting fuel, ignition and emissions control systems using testing equipment
  • Repair, overhaul, or adjust vehicle brake systems, engines, steering mechanisms and any other general automotive repairs as required
  • Use mechanical specialty equipment such as wheel balancing, tire changing, and wheel alignment machines
  • Repair on EV equipment and vehicles, battery maintenance, etc.
  • Operate welding equipment, hoists, trailers, snow removal equipment, etc.Maintain proper certifications, wheel loader, forklift, TWIC, as necessary

  • Ensure all personnel are current with safety training and procedures
  • Keep up knowledge of SDS, EPA, and OSHA regulations

Qualifications

Skills
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to drive both automatic and manual shift vehicles
  • Ability to verify and record numbers 17 characters in length
  • Ability to function within working conditions and physical requirements described above
  • Ability to communicate to the Facilities Manager any repair and parts issue

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Associates Degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 + years of experience required
  • 10 years of experience preferred
  • Experience as an Automotive Mechanic required
  • Experience in truck or bus repair and maintenance preferred
  • Must hold a valid State issued Driver's License

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit in front of a desk and/or in front of the computer for long periods
  • Repetitiveuse of hand/graspingproduct, writing, and typing
  • Lift up to 75lbs.
  • Carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Stand/walk
