Job: Part Time Art Teacher / SEMH Teacher (contract) – Immediate Start

Where: SEMH School

Location: London Borough of Hillingdon

Daily Rate: £150 - £250 per day

Innovative & Creative SEMH School located in London Borough of Hillingdon is recruiting for a part time Art Teacher to start immediately.

The successful Art Teacher / Teacher of Art OR SEMH Teacher / SEN Teacher must have Qualified Teacher Status.

It is important that the Teacher of Art / Art Teacher or SEMH Teacher / SEN Teacher has experience teaching students at KS3 & KS4 with a range of complex needs, including SEMH, Autism, and behaviour difficulties as well as experience working with EHCPs.

Class sizes are small, typically between 5-7 children per class.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Proven experience teaching art in a school setting, preferably within an SEMH or similar environment.
Strong understanding of SEMH and ASD, including strategies for supporting students with these needs.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging behaviours.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with best practices in SEMH and ASD education.
Additional qualifications or training in special education, SEMH, or ASD.
Experience working in the London Borough of Hillingdon or similar urban settings.
Familiarity with art therapy techniques and their application in an educational context.
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging art lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
Utilize various teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
Employ techniques for de-escalating challenging behaviours and managing classroom dynamics effectively.
Monitor and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
Work collaboratively with other staff members, including SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and support staff, to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
Maintain accurate records of students' achievements and behaviour incidents.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external agencies regarding students' progress and any concerns.
