Job Description

Are you a strategic and experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to take on a leadership role in the commercial management of a dynamic design consultancy?

Our client, a leading engineering and design consultancy, is looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to drive the commercial success of their business.

Based in London - with occasional travel to various sites in the area, to attend team coordination and monthly review meetings.

As the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial aspects of our client's design consultancy. You will manage a diverse portfolio of projects while providing hands-on commercial support across the business. This is a key role in ensuring profitability and compliance while delivering exceptional service to clients.

Responsibilities Include:

Contract Management: Review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts, ensuring alignment with key risk parameters.
Procurement & Subcontract Management: Oversee procurement and downstream subcontract management across the portfolio.
Cash Flow & Project Reporting: Manage cash flow, project CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reporting for individual projects and the overall portfolio, in line with Profit Take and Revenue Recognition Rules.
Commercial Support: Provide comprehensive commercial support across multiple projects, including the production of Early Warning Notices (EWNs), Compensation Events (CEs), and Applications for Payment (AFPs).What We're Looking For:

Proven experience managing a portfolio of projects, with the ability to deliver singular large-scale schemes.
A strong background in design consultancy is highly advantageous.
Expertise in administering contracts, particularly NEC and bespoke client terms.
Ability to confidently review, negotiate, and manage both upstream and downstream contracts and subcontracts.
Experience with CVR reporting and guiding others in the process to confirm monthly portfolio positions.
Strong financial acumen, with hands-on experience in cash management and project forecasting.Why Join Our Client?
