Location: Yorkshire (home-based with site visits)

Client Overview - SHEQ Advisor:
Our client is a leading UK contractor specialising in infrastructure projects across various sectors, including water, health, and transportation. They are seeking a SHEQ Advisor to join their team supporting Yorkshire Water frameworks. The successful candidate will play a critical role in nurturing a positive safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) culture, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining high standards across all sites.

Purpose of the Role - SHEQ Advisor:
The SHEQ Advisor will be responsible for ensuring compliance with SHEQ regulations on-site and across various work areas. The role requires providing expert advice to operational teams and ensuring that client and legal requirements are met while identifying opportunities for improvement in SHEQ processes.

Key Accountabilities - SHEQ Advisor:

Provide effective SHEQ services and advice to stakeholders.
Support operational teams in meeting client and legal SHEQ requirements.
Offer advice on specialist areas such as fire safety, hazardous substances, and risk management.
Conduct SHEQ inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
Contribute to the development of SHEQ policies and procedures.
Assist in accident, incident, and near miss investigations, producing reports and identifying root causes.
Monitor remedial actions and evaluate their effectiveness.
Provide monthly reports on SHEQ performance and produce SHEQ newsletters, toolbox talks, and bulletins.
Represent the company at client SHEQ meetings and forums.
Deliver SHEQ elements of induction training and contribute to training needs analysis.
Assist with external audits and maintaining SSIP verification.
Support bid responses and pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQ). Competency Requirements - SHEQ Advisor:

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Persistent, determined, and willing to learn and adapt. Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications - SHEQ Advisor:

Minimum NVQ Level 3 / NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
Working knowledge of ISO management standards (ISO 18001/45001).
Experience in the construction, utility, or highways sector, particularly in health and safety.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
