Environmental Manager

Our client, a leading global provider of engineering infrastructure solutions, is looking for an Environmental Manager to join their team on a permanent basis, working on highway projects in North Lanarkshire. In this role, you will ensure the organisation operates in line with environmental guidelines and targets. Your responsibilities will include reviewing corporate activities to identify areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation across the company.

Main Responsibilities:

• Managing and developing the environmental department by providing relevant training and overseeing environmental staff.
• Overseeing all aspects of environmental concerns related to the division’s internal and external waste management operations.
• Ensuring compliance with best practices and existing environmental legislation.
• Ensuring adherence to mandatory requirements at all construction sites, including site licence conditions, planning stipulations, emissions levels, and ground stability monitoring.
• Supporting the company in delivering its commitments and vision by maintaining standards, including ISO14001.
• Conducting regular environmental audits across all construction sites.
• Participating in the strategic planning, development, and management of the company’s waste management facilities. This includes identifying potential future sites, assessing their viability, and considering design and operational constraints.
• Analysing site investigations.
• Collaborating closely with the estimating department when preparing tenders.
• Creating material management plans for projects with identified contamination or environmental concerns, ensuring compliance with site remediation strategies.
• Working with site teams to address environmental or remediation issues that arise during works.
• Researching and implementing new systems to improve efficiency in response to environmental legislative changes that affect company practices.

Requirements:

• Degree in an environmental subject.
• Proven experience as an Environmental Manager.
• Computer literate.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
