Job Description

Due to an exciting pipeline of new developments planned for Peterhead Port, an additional key member of staff is sought to support the current Senior Port Engineer and the Ports Maintenance Department. The Port Authority operates extensive facilities to support commercial fishing, energy and leisure activities. These facilities include the largest fish market in the UK, a new Ice Factory, ship repair facilities, commercial property and extensive quayside berths as well as commercial and leisure marinas and associated service infrastructure.

All of these facilities require to be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure the Port remains safe and operational for its customers. The Port is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of the fishing and energy industries. This dynamic environment requires the relentless input of the Ports engineering department to develop, maintain or replace the existing infrastructure to ensure that the facility is suitable for the future needs of the maritime industries.

Role

· Design and preparation of engineering drawings in Autocad.

· Preparation of tender documents.

· Supervision of maintenance and construction work to ensure that the works are completed safely and to specification.

· Coordination with the Ship Repair, Fishmarket and Marine departments to ensure that all facilities receive the required maintenance and inspection.

· As Duty Port Engineer, you are expected to be on standby every 3rd weekend.

Skills -

· The candidate will have a minimum of HNC/HND Civil Engineering.

· Significant experience in a similar position.

· Experience in maritime or coastal engineering would be beneficial.

· Experience of managing civil, mechanical and electrical construction and maintenance works.

· Detailed knowledge of the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Construction (Design and management) Regulations 2015.

· Experience in the production of risk assessments and method statements.

· Excellent communication skills are essential to ensure customers concerns are adequately addressed and maintenance staff and contractors are effectively deployed and clearly directed and supported.

· Excellent IT skills and competent in Microsoft Office software and AutoCAD.

· Experience in developing tender specifications, work scopes and Bills of Quantities.
