About the Team

The Information Registry is Ofcom's central team dedicated to coordinating and managing information requests across the organisation. The collection of accurate, complete and timely information from regulated companies is vital for Ofcom's work. The Information Registry team provides end-to-end operational support to policy teams across Ofcom, carries out advocacy work with stakeholders and monitor stakeholders' compliance with their obligations. It forms part of Ofcom's Enforcement team, which plays a critical role in ensuring that the regulation and policy we put in place to protect consumers and citizens is effective.

Purpose of the Role

Senior Associates in the Information Registry oversee the provision of end-to-end operational support to individual project teams across Ofcom, ensuring Ofcom's information gathering processes are carried out efficiently and to agreed timings.

They act as a dedicated point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to field queries or clarifications on information requests and generate data and reports on request status. Information Registry Senior Associates monitor stakeholders' compliance with their obligations to provide timely and complete responses and ensure late or missing responses are followed up promptly.

They lead learning and best practice for information gathering and provide support, training and guidance to colleagues within the Information Registry. In this role, Senior Associates work closely with colleagues across Ofcom to ensure continuous improvement of information gathering practices, systems and processes.

Your key responsibilities

  • Overseeing operational support to individual project teams, including:

- Providing advice on preparing statutory information requests

- Supporting project teams in sending information requests to external stakeholders and monitoring responses received, ensuring missing or late responses are followed up promptly.

- Liaising with project teams and stakeholders in dealing with queries or clarifications on information requests

- Escalating concerns of non-compliant behaviour as appropriate

- Managing information received in accordance with Ofcom's protocols.
  • Representing Ofcom in external stakeholder meetings relating to our information gathering activities.
  • Supporting the development of the Information Registry, leading strategic workstreams to achieve key objectives and deliver continuous improvement, including coaching and support of Information Registry colleagues in the performance of their duties.
  • Act as subject matter expert for information gathering within Ofcom.
  • Contributing to and compiling training material, guidance on best practice for information gathering and maintaining precedent banks.
  • Working with the Information Registry leadership and ICT to improve existing systems and processes.
  • Support wider Enforcement team activities as required.


The skills, knowledge and experience you will need for success

  • Executing Plans: You will need to organise tasks and set clear goals for yourself and others in the team whilst you monitor and manage the pipeline of information requests, leading the delivery of work to expectations and demonstrating excellent attention to detail.
  • Building solutions: You will have the ability to re-prioritise your own work and that of the team on the basis of strategic importance, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Forming Relationships: You will be able to build and maintain constructive and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a fair and professional way. You will need to take a lead role in stakeholder meetings, acting as a key contact and representative of the Information Registry and Ofcom, providing challenge where appropriate.
  • Articulating Ideas: You will bring fresh ideas and make suggestions about how we can improve and streamline our ways of working. Your excellent communication skills will mean you can represent and explain Ofcom's position even in the face of challenge.
  • Empowering development: You will support the growth and development of others' skills and strengths providing training and coaching where necessary.
  • IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office products.
