Highland Health and Social Care Services help people from all walks of life, as well as their families or carers. Health and Social Care in Highland provides help and assistance in many situations arising due to illness, disability, old age or poverty.

This post is responsible for leading a team to support vulnerable adults in a residential setting and to contribute to the movement and treatment of clients to maximise their physical comfort.

You must have the ability to work as part of a team or on your own initiative, follow instructions and possess good communication skills. You must also be able to respond constructively to unpredictable situations and able to cope under pressure.

In order to be able to carry out the duties of this post effectively and safely, candidates should be able to provide evidence of a good basic education, good written communication and report writing skills.

Applicants should have experience of working with people in a care setting with a minimum of SVQ 2 in Social Care or equivalent. Also with a commitment to achieve SVQ3 in Social Care or equivalent plus have or to be prepared to undertake Administration of Medication training.

We can offer a friendly and supportive working environment with ongoing training.

This is a bank post and the hours of duty are in line with the needs of the service but can be flexible.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
