Job Description

Jameson Legal is instructed on a new role with our client, a leading international firm, whose London office is home to a busy Arbitration team handling complex cross-border cases. The practice is looking for an experienced Senior Associate with at least 5 years of post qualification experience. The practice is looking to grow significantly over the next 3-5 years. It has a good balance of investor-state and commercial work, across a variety of different industry sectors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading arbitration cases and playing a key role in formulating strategy.
  • Engaging in written advocacy by taking responsibility for pleadings, witness statements, legal briefs and other submissions.
  • Holding an interest in oral advocacy and the ability to communicate through effective presentation of arguments during hearings and other proceedings.
  • Mentoring junior Lawyers by providing guidance on arbitration procedures, legal writing techniques and client management.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Demonstrated expertise in handling complex international arbitrations, involving high-value disputes.
  • Proven track record of successful written and (ideally) oral advocacy skills within an arbitration context.
  • In-depth understanding of various institutional rules and practices governing international arbitration proceedings.
  • Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal - and capable of engaging effectively with clients, tribunals, witnesses, experts and peers alike.
