PROJECT MANAGER/CONSTRUCTION MANAGER - GOVERNMENT CULTURAL PROGRAMS

Seeking a motivated and experienced (CM/PM) Construction Manager with construction program technical education and experience to join us at the Great Lakes National Cemetery Construction Project in Detroit, MI. This position offers flexibility and can be filled as either a full-time or contract role, depending on the candidate's preference and qualifications. Candidates will report to a Program Manager as well as collaborate and assist VA client staff to provide data, and generate reports, as a representative for the client on a major cemetery construction project. The National Cemeteries are considered a National Shrine and a National Monument and require the care and honor due our military veterans.

Responsibilities:

The Construction Manager will provide leadership, quality assurance, and construction management expertise. Additionally, they will provide decisive direction in regard to business, technical, and personnel management involving multi-disciplinary and diverse functional activities. The Construction Manager will be required to learn, teach, and implement industry, client, and internal company best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality, and operations for these national monuments. The Construction Manager will require experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals and experience as an advisor/liaison with the client (user groups, design team, contractors, and facility engineering representatives). The CM services will be used to support traditional Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build contracts. A summary of the major tasks is below.

* Overall management, in terms of technical quality, cost, and schedule.
* Maintains daily progress reports and inspection reports. Leads the inspection and quality assurance team assigned to projects to ensure timely and effective project oversight.
* Identify and mitigate risks on project(s) that will impact facility operation.

Required Qualifications:

* Licensing: None Required (PE preferred)
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture from an accredited University OR 20 years of directly related experience.
* Experience: a minimum of 7 years of field construction experience with site civil, civil engineering, and construction management project experience in both vertical and horizontal construction.
* Individuals shall have experience with utilities, drainage, earthwork, site work, irrigation, contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and considerable overlap with other construction trades, i.e. architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, landscaping, and hardscaping.


* Certifications: OSHA 30 hour
* Leadership: Must possess the skillset and competency to supervise and manage the personnel of diverse skillset.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Federal projects.
* Experience/Licensing in the geographic area and experience on projects with budgets of ~ $30 million
* CCM, CQM, PMP
* Experience with civil projects may be rated higher
