About the job

The holder of this post is responsible for cleaning and presentation of trains to the specifications as laid down in the Train presentation Handbook.

Comply with instructions, Rules and Regulations in force.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure your personal safety and that of others at all times, including that of visitors and contractors
  • Provide proactive information that delivers higher and improved train presentation standards
  • Report defects found
  • Carry out Environmental Exams and report defects as necessary
  • Advise all work carried out
  • Work to be undertaken to comply with South West Trains quality procedures
  • Work to be undertaken in a safe manner using the required personal protection equipment supplied
  • Observe COSHH regulations in place

You'll need to:

  • Comply with safety systems and responsibilities at all times.
  • Develop a pro-active approach to safety and quality issues.
  • Ensure your personal safety and that of others at all times.
  • Carry out emergency procedures when required.
  • Report any irregularities, faults or unusual occurrences in the prescribed manner, maintaining a written record.
  • Wear uniform and safety clothing, including name badge.
  • Participate in all staff briefings to ensure you are informed of all relevant information.
  • Examine all notices, publications and instructions.

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • Good knowledge of all carriage cleaning procedures, specifications and COSHH regulations
  • Basic Communication skills both written and oral
  • Knowledge of safety requirements

Working pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week.

Mixed shift rosters: 0600-1400 / 1400-2200
