Dynamic and experienced, you’ll bring with you a fresh approach to communication and engagement, at a time when Cambridge is regularly in the national spotlight.

Working closely with the Council’s leadership team, you will ensure we hear from local people, meeting them in the places and platforms where they spend their time; you will influence stakeholders in support of our vision: ‘One Cambridge, Fair For All’; and, best of all, you will help to create the Cambridge story.

You will be leading our brilliant Communications team, which has recently gone live with a redesigned Cambridge City Council website, and been responsible for organically growing our consultation and engagement platform to nearly 5,500 users in two years.

The role profile has more details about the role, but your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and execution of a strategic communications plan to support our organization's goals and enhance our public image.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with community groups, media outlets, and other key stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the creation and dissemination of engaging content across various platforms, including social media, press releases, newsletters, and the website.
  • Managing a team to deliver effective communication and engagement.

Hours: This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week.

Location: This is flexible – working in Cambridge on site or at one of our offices or working from home. You will be able to balance your work location accordingly.
