JOB DESCRIPTION: Head of Finance

DEPARTMENT: Finance

LOCATION: Guildford or Farnham office, with ability to work remotely as appropriate

REPORTS TO: The Chief Executive

PAY SCALE: £47-60,000

HOURS: Full-time 35hrs per week

LIASING WITH: Members of all Departments in Challengers; Trustees; Parents and Carers; Statutory Funders; Auditors; Companies House; The Charity Commission; HMRC; DWP and The Office for National Statistics.

MAIN PURPOSE -

We are looking for a talented, passionate person to join our Senior Leadership Team to oversee our finance operations. You will have the responsibility for the smooth running of the finance function supported by two Finance Officers

It is an exciting time to join Challengers as we launch our new strategy with ambitious plans to reach 1,000 families and delivering 100,000 hours of service to transform the lives of disabled children and young people through the power of play.

You Will Be Great If:

• You are a qualified accountant with a minimum of three yearsexperience in a senior financial role.
• You possess strong expertise in budgeting, financial analysis, and year-end reporting.
• You are adept at preparing annual accounts, managing auditor processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• You have proven experience in financial modelling using MS Excel and are proficient in database management.
• You have effectively led small teams and demonstrate excellent communication skills with a range of stakeholders.
• You are experienced in managing IT infrastructure and ensuring robust data security, including GDPR compliance.
• You have an understanding in not-for-profit organisations and a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by disabled children and their families.
