Job Description

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Huntingdon, is currently looking to recruit a Streetworks Inspector for an initial 13 week contract on a rate of £17.59 PAYE - £22.87 umbrella. This role will be hybrid working with 2 days in the office per week for the time being (Monday and Friday).


Responsibilities:


- Undertake pre-works site meetings, agree conditions

- Undertake sample, third party and routine inspections, take photographs, prepare site inspection reports verbally notify and physically serve defect notices as appropriate

- Carry out S74 site inspections take photographs and compile information packs to enable S74 charges to be raised

- Carry out S81 site inspections take photographs and compile information packs to enable S81 re-charges to be raised

- Carry out Permit Compliance Inspections take photographs and compile information packs to enable Fixed Penalty Notices to be raised as appropriate

- Provide daily advice and support to Street Works and Permit Coordinators

- Feedback to Coordination team

- Record Permit Inspections

- Provide witness statements as and when required.

- Hold defect joint site visits with statutory undertakers and/or their appointed representatives.

- Liaise with the Police, Cambridgeshire Highways, and statutory undertakers with regard to S278, S50 and traffic management related issues.

- Deal with correspondence and third-party complaints as required

- Collect and maintain records, manage data and performance information, accurate data entry into the back office IT systems


Essential Skills:


- NRSWA Supervisors Accreditation

- A degree in a related subject or HND or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience

- Knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and its associated codes of practice/regulations (particularly in relation to permitting and co-ordination).

- Working knowledge of:

i. The co-ordination of street works and works for road purposes and related matters, The specification for the reinstatement of openings in highways.

ii. Code of practice for inspections

iii. Code of practice for signing lighting and guarding ‘Safety at street works and road works’.

iv. Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual

- Use of Insight/Symology systems, or relevant equivalent

- Manage competing priorities and deadlines

- Able to accept without hesitation responsibility for the consequences of own actions when making decisions relating to the wider highway network

- Personable and able to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders

- Experience of using computerised mapping systems

- Experience in using a computerised street works database system to analyse/input street works notices
