Job Description

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Global Commodity Manager to work at our customers site in Derby on a contract basis.

Role details:

  • Job title: Global Commodity Manager
  • Contract length: 12 months
  • Location: Derby
  • Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supplier Relationship Management - Where designated, be responsible for the effective day to day management of partner and supplier relationships at all levels. Contribute to top to top management of operational performance and strategic direction of partners and suppliers. Be responsible for the effective deployment of the Supplier Engagement Model within the scope of the role.
  • Cost Management - Responsible for cost performance of designated supply chain(s) relative to business and customer requirements in line with Single Source Contract Regulations. Lead long term cost improvement in all relevant activities in line with business plans, including leveraging cost reductions across commodity/ category scope. Understand the supplier's manufacturing processes and associated cost drivers to support the development and delivery of cost engineering opportunities in the supply chain.
  • Strategy - Where designated, develop, deploy and communicate relevant commodity/ category/ supplier strategies, providing a clear vision and strategic framework for the designated supply chain(s). Work collaboratively, as part of skilled cross functional teams, to ensure that strategies meet current and future business/ customer needs.
  • Processes and Procedures - Lead the commodity team's compliance to company policies, processes and procedures, ensuring all purchasing records and documentations are correct and maintained in line with regulatory requirements. Responsible for the effective deployment and maintenance of Procurement Minimum Standards within the scope of the role.
  • Resource Management - Lead the commodity team(s), ensuring team resourcing, training and/or capability are at the levels required for success, and address gaps as required.
  • Other - Deputise for, and assume controlled delegations from, the Head of Direct/ Indirect Procurement, as required. Represent externally, with suppliers, customers and other third parties as required.

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrate effective planning and execution of sourcing and commercial activities to maximise the value proposition within the scope of the commodity team(s) in line with Single Source Contract Regulations.
  • Strong commercial skills and ability to support the team with negotiations on terms and conditions.
  • Understanding of supply chains and development of supply chain strategies
  • Motivate and lead a high performing team
  • Awareness of Single Source Contract Regulations
  • Nurture effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the function in order to integrate functional priorities.
  • Select a supply chain capable of meeting quality and delivery requirements.
  • Responsible for the driving delivery performance of the designated supply chain(s) and the resolution of any performance related issues.
  • Responsible for the definition, agreement and execution of improvement plans as required

Additional Information

**Security clearance**

This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.

Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
