Position Summary:

Performs maintenance, repair, installation of roofing and application of waterproofing on buildings/components. This work is performed under general supervision using the tools and techniques of roofing and waterproofing technology.

Competencies:

A.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

2 years manufacturer certification in roofing application systems

B.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of roofing and waterproofing techniques, procedures and materials.

Extensive knowledge of building codes and fire codes.

Knowledge of safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards.

C.

Skills:

Applies roofing, waterproofing and safety knowledge indicated herein.

Safely uses tools and equipment indicated herein.

Ability to solve problems and manage information indicated herein.

Requires proficient written and verbal English communication skills, at least on an high school graduate level, to interact with departmental/JHM staff.

Identifies and avoids hazards as indicated by warning labels, signage, lights and other warning devices.

Performs work within reasonable lengths of time as measured against trade, industry or engineered standards.

D.

Required Licensure, Certification, etc.:

Certification in various roofing application systems (e.g., multiple-ply roofing and single-ply application systems).

E.

Work Experience:

5 years relevant work experience.

Intermediate sheetmetal experience.

F.

Machines, Tools, Equipment:

All types of tools and equipment normally used in the roofing and waterproofing trade, powered bench and hand tools (such as drills, grinders, compressed air), and non-powered hand tools.
