Job Description

The successful candidate will:
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the DIO Guiding Principles.
  • Support team members and assist line managers in delivering departmental goals.
  • Promote strong working relationships both within the team and with other teams across DIO and MoD.
  • Act as the in-country lead for all housing queries.
  • Review and maintain all hard copy and electronic files relating to rented Substitute Service Families Accommodation (SSFA)
  • Implementing utility charges on JPA system once a family has moved in and moved out of SSFA.
  • Contribute to effective communications within and across DIO Service Delivery Overseas.
  • Leading on all condition surveys required to support all leases with Landlords and ensuring originals are filed with copies sent to Landlords and DIO Land Management Services (LMS).
  • Provide welcome packs for families to their allocated SSFA prior to their arrival.

In seeking a candidate for this role, emphasis is placed on experience, skills, and personal qualities rather than formal qualifications. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in facilities / property management, including the allocation, maintenance, and compliance aspects, ensuring a high standard of living for entitled personnel and their families. Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders such as military commanders, Non-industry partners, Host Nation Landlords and service personnel is essential. Additionally, prior leadership experience is fundamental, with the candidate expected to have demonstrated effective team management and leadership skills in their past roles.

Skills wise, the candidate should possess excellent organisational and time management abilities, with an aptitude for prioritising tasks efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are non-negotiable, as the role requires engaging effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and Host Nation landlords. The candidate must be proficient in managing health and safety standards and have a solid understanding of relevant legal and policy frameworks. Analytical skills are also important, alongside problem-solving skills to proactively address and resolve issues.

Personal qualities are just as important as professional skills and experience, as dealing with service families can be very personal when dealing with situations. We are looking for someone with a deep commitment to providing high-quality housing services and support. The candidate should approach their work with pro-activity, anticipating issues before they arise and developing strategies to mitigate them. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as the role will involve managing a variety of tasks and challenges. Integrity and professionalism must underpin all aspects of the candidate's work, always maintaining high ethical standards. Lastly, a collaborative mindset is essential, as the successful candidate will need to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive working environment.

This role presents an opportunity for an individual with a strong background in property management and a passion for supporting service personnel and their families. Through their experience, skills, and personal attributes, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of service provided housing.
