Job Description

JOB TITLE: Internal Controls Placement

LOCATION: Milton Keynes (hybrid between 1-3 days in the office required per week)

CLOSING DATE: 30th September 2024

SALARY: £22,250, 27 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, loan car scheme, pension and a discretionary bonus

CONTRACT: June 2025 - June 2026

To apply for our undergraduate placement scheme, you must be studying for an undergraduate degree that requires a placement year. Master's students are not eligible for this placement.

Are you a motivated, analytical individual interested in a fast-paced role? We are looking for an undergraduate to join our Internal Controls team as an Internal Controls Undergraduate. In this position, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our business objectives are met while managing and mitigating operational and business risks. With a primary focus on financial crime detection and prevention, corporate governance, and business continuity management, you will be exposed to a wide range of activities, allowing you to develop a broad understanding of the industry and contribute to the overall success of our organisation.

This is what your time at Volkswagen Financial Services might look like:

  • Working with the Financial Crime team to protects the business from financial crime across all portfolios engage in a pro-active approach to the prevention, detection and disruption with investigations, analysis, clear and accurate documentation, use of and provision of criminal intelligence to the appropriate authorities.
  • Support with the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in line with the Proceeds of Crime Act and Terrorism Act, for approval and submission to the National Crime Agency as and when suspicion or knowledge arises.
  • Produce clear and accurate witness statements to support reports of fraud or theft, providing exhibits for evidencing purposes for use in Court.
  • Responding to data protection requests and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Operate with appropriate framework of policies and controls for assessing and monitoring the financial crime risk.
  • Collaborating with the Credit Assessment team to support risk assessment and decision-making processes.

  • Studying towards a business-related degree.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of regulatory principles, sources, and interpretation.
  • Ability to work independently and handle responsibilities with confidence, while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders across the organisation.

Here's what our process looks like:

  • Apply and upload your CV, covering letter and answer a few application questions.
  • You'll then be invited to complete a Situational Judgement Test. This is a short multiple-choice question set to understand how you may approach situations.
  • If you pass this stage, you will be invited to complete an online video interview where you will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself.
  • If successful, your final step in the journey is to attend an assessment centre at our Milton Keynes office where you will take part in a group exercise, complete a short interview and deliver a presentation. You'll also meet some of our managers and our current Undergraduates to find out more about a placement year with us.
