Tax Disputes Lawyer

Our client, a leader in the Tax Disputes field, is seeking an ambitious candidate with 5+ years' PQE. The successful candidate will have a direct and indirect tax background, and a strong interest in tax contentious work.

There will be opportunity to act on high profile matters. Recent highlights include:

• Acting for a football club in relation to a multi-faceted dispute with HMRC, stemming from an enquiry into agents' fees that started with a dawn raid;
• Advising a retail bank in relation to a complex VAT dispute, concerning the correct treatment of services provided to it under a transitional services agreement arising out of its split with another bank.

Requirements for the role:

• Expertise in Tax Disputes and Investigations, including experience in both direct and indirect tax matters, HMRC enquiries, COP8 and COP9 investigations and claims involving public law challenges by way of judicial review.
• A commitment to business development, and to further grow the practice. Someone who identifies and shapes commercial opportunities, encouraging others to participate.
• A collaborative leader within a team, who coaches and develops junior team members to achieve their full potential.
