In this specific contract position, you'll be working hand-in-hand with our dedicated automotive clientele. Due to the nature of the role, we will only be able to consider candidates with direct Automotive work experience. We are only able to consider candidates on an inside IR35 basis.


A position has arisen to join a large automotive client in Warwickshire. It is not every day you come across high performance versions of existing models, luxury bespoke commissions, heritage models or individually tailored vehicles that set pulses racing.


Vehicle Personalisation is one pillar of our clients operations, including Interior, Exterior, Chassis & Exterior Coatings engineering teams.


The engineering teams are responsible for innovations, developing commodity strategy, delivering against Bespoke & Ext Coating project timelines ensuring robust personalisation options for our customers.


The Bespoke Project Engineer role will foster strong links & partnerships with Core teams, Quality teams, the Supply base, our Bespoke Operations team & our unique Manufacturing plants/processes.

This role will be very much the eyes & ears of the engineering team for Plant based changes / issues / error states enabling appropriate engineering actions to be taken in a timely fashion. The role will include managing / implementing change, managing expectations of cross functional teams & delivering robust / quality engineering solutions.

The role involves the continual investigation, and improvement of existing processes.


What you’ll need.


You’ll ideally have technical knowledge and automotive engineering experience of Interior & Exterior trim commodities & a basic knowledge of paint systems and processes.

A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, issue definition and the change management process are desirable.

Knowledge of Digi-Buck and 3DLive will be desirable or equivalent experience of other systems.


You’ll also have strong influencing and engagement skills, ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way, whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style. Finally, you’ll possess good communication and presentation skills with experience in data analysis and PC skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities.


  • ‘Issue’ project management, appropriate defining, planning, and conducting the appropriate root cause analysis with stakeholders.
  • Supporting logistical necessities between sites for the engineering teams.
  • Maintaining of & reporting the status of projects at agreed milestones.
  • Engagement with Core counterparts – influencing as a creditable stakeholder.
  • Recognising system compatibilities / attributes.
  • Review of Manuf WES, ctrl plans and PFMEA ensuring Engineering cascades have been acted on, conversely, highlighting where engineering cascades are missing.
  • Attendance at ‘AGILE’ mtgs / ceremonies, Launch Management Mtgs, Quality reviews and as appropriate provision of clear status/plans.
  • Ownership of Engineering warranty issues via IQM or Running change issues (AIMS).
  • Champion change that has an effect on the engineering BOM.
  • Generate & maintain a clear understanding of the Manufacturing process flows.
  • Champion Lessons Learned.
  • Undertake other work as directed by your line manager in connection with the role.
