Job Description

You have an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's largest Project services providers working across a mixture of work types on the Sellafield site!

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the Integrated Asset Care Framework based at Sellafield. The contract is 4+1 years with an expected value of £40m per year. The scope includes mechanical, electrical and civil engineering with individual jobs and projects ranging from hundred to several million pounds. The contract is being delivered by OneAIM a joint venture between Jacobs and Mitie.


You will be expected to work seamlessly and collaboratively with the customer managing both on and off-site teams with in the Cumbria area.


As part of our investments into this team we want to hire a new team members at Senior Quantity Surveyor levels with experience in dynamic Project environments. Skill sets focussed around Contract and Sub Contract management, value generation, cost control and IT skills are highly desirable. Working as part of a growing Project team and helping to drive forward a strong team culture are also highly desirable. Contracts are based upon NEC 3 with a range of contract options. Good contractual working knowledge is required along with an appreciation of the governance controls that form part of working in a large multi disciplinary organisation.


As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and profitable execution of each project, working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager and leading a team of Trainees. You will provide support and guidance to your team, as well as assist in various tasks related to the project. These tasks include reviewing RFQ documents, schedules, budgets, and tenders; issuing enquiries and completing quotation analysis; attending meetings with clients and assessing rates and prices; reviewing budgets and procurement programmes; managing sub-contractors and suppliers; preparing and submitting reports, valuations and invoices; managing change and variations; negotiating final accounts; and providing guidance and advice to other Project team members. You will also monitor and manage the workload and performance of your direct reports.


We are looking for a candidate who has an excellent understanding of projects and their lifecycle, from initiation to completion. The candidate should be able to understand and interpret design drawings, and have excellent contract knowledge, ideally NEC 3. The candidate should also have excellent IT skills, using Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other system based information services. Furthermore, the candidate should have an excellent commercial understanding and how this impacts upon our controls of risk and opportunities. The candidate should also be good at supplier management, following good industry practice and guidelines. Lastly, the candidate should have the ability to work in a team, collaborating and communicating effectively with others
