Job Description

The ideal candidate will be looking to explore project management in a challenging environment. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of managing and delivering infrastructure programmes and projects against a broad range of programme and project management functional competences.

The role of the Senior Project Manager is to provide effective management, motivation, co-ordination and development of project teams to deliver a portfolio of projects to time, cost, quality and performance parameters.

This position has the benefit of being offered as either accompanied, with Service Families Accommodation or unaccompanied, with accommodation in the Officers Mess.

This position is eligible for both Operational Delivery Allowance (ODA) of 6000 per annum and Cost of Living Allowance (COLA), COLA is calculated based on the individual's personal circumstances

Person specification

Responsibilities include:

Act as the main liaison between the UK based project management team, British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI), Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Regional Delivery (RD), Technical Service Providers (TSP), construction contractors and all other stakeholders located in the Falklands
Providing the senior Intelligent Client interface in the management of industry partners, selected through various procurement mechanisms to deliver projects on behalf of DIO in line with MOD processes, procedures and contractual terms and conditions.
Proactive Contract Management to maintain a productive working relationship with industry partners and suppliers, monitoring their performance in terms of quality, time, cost and reliability. Drive optimal delivery and promptly manage emerging issues to avoid programme delays or cost escalation
Manage financial performance of projects within agreed tolerances to control expenditure against approved project budgets and provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting to senior management
Undertake project assurance and reviews across the portfolio at key stages to evaluate progress, compliance and probability of delivery to provide confidence to senior management, customers and key stakeholders
Working as part of an integrated project team, ensure that costs within the approvals process are robust and ensure that Contracts are managed to deliver value for money for Defence. Support Customers to manage and maintain project approvals, and deliver within your delegated authority
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for working with the Assistant Head MPP to develop a working environment and ways of working to achieve a High Performing Team ethos within the Projects Team and is accountable for ensuring adherence and conformity to all agreed DIO processes and operating procedures and particularly those which are detailed under key infrastructure process
