Controller - Oakland County, MI

Position Summary

The Controller is in charge of leading all financial aspects of the Company and is part of the leading management team. The Controller establishes and improves procedures and processes. There are large interfaces expected with other Company departments. The expectation is to keep in constant professional contact with headquarters (Israel) finance department to provide required data and receive professional answers and guidelines.
NOTE: There are no other finance employees in the Company.

Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Controller

Daily Finance Activities
In charge of all finance daily activities, booking invoices from suppliers, preparing payments, issuing invoices to customers (together with marketing department), collection efforts (together with marketing department), bank reconciliation, managing and maintaining full trial balance with all finance activities needed to have an accurate trial balance, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger, on a regular basis.
Responsible for all tax remittances including, inter alia, payroll, withholding and income taxes.

Packaging Report
Preparing monthly/quarterly/annual packaging report.
Liaison with the external auditors for the quarterly/annually packaging report and the filing of the tax return.
The monthly packaging report, which includes mainly the Actual P&L vs the Budget and the Previous Year, is one of the most important management tools to understand where we are and what needs to be done to meet our P&L targets.
The quarterly and annual packaging report includes full reviewed/audited financial statement needed for internal use of Company and the headquarters and to be provided to the group external auditor.

Costing
The Company has costing policies and methodologies.
Full understanding regarding the costing method.
Understand the processes on the production floor and be familiar and close with all production activities to analyze properly the costing calculation.
Understand the way costing is implemented in the ERP system and lead the Company to have a high quality of master data. This means working with a large interface with all Company departments and the headquarters finance department.

Payroll
Responsible for all payroll processes starting from attendance data collection (together with the HR department) to final payments to the employees and to all other payees.
Responsible for all government reports and filing requirements.

Budget and Financial Control
Responsible for putting the Company budget together in a way that reflects the operational needs of the Company, planned investments, and all other needs to assure the ability to meet its revenue targets and aligned with the headquarters finance department guidance. Responsible for controlling the actual vs. the Budget.

Tax and Other Legal Requirements
Controller is the Company focal person for all tax and legal issues.

Banks
Controller is the Company focal person for all bank issues.

Insurance
Preparation of annual insurance requirements and update of same to ensure all assets and commitments of the company are adequately covered.
Controller is the plant focal person for all insurance issues.

Support Plant Manager, other company management teams and HQ finance department
Ability to see the plant from a wide perspective, seeing the full results of the plant and have a wide understanding in the costing element and structure.
Expected to support the Company management team focusing on the major areas, providing statistic data and tools they need to understand the company results and to take the right decisions.

Required Education, Skills, & Abilities of the Controller
A degree in accounting, finance, economics or equivalent from an accredited college/university.
Qualified chartered accountant.
Minimum of 3 years accounting experience.
Experience of accounting practices in an industrial manufacturing environment an asset.
Exposure to one or more recognized ERP system.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Experience working in an internationally owned organization an asset.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as accounting reports.
Able to write correspondence and reports.
Ability to speak effectively in front of employees and management.

Computer Skills:
Exposure to one or more recognized ERP system.
Exposure to one or more recognized payroll software.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Personal Skills
Excellent communication skills.
Able to work independently and prioritize tasks.
Able to take initiative and ask questions along the way /request qualification, training, clarifications etc.
Able to work in a dynamic business environment with unplanned changes and tasks.
Able to work on multiple projects on ongoing basis and meet deadlines.
Able to get into details when required, willing and able to fulfill management and headquarters finance department tasks as well as routine daily activities.
Excellent analytical skills combined with a very hands-on approach.
