Job Description:
You will work within the Controlled Area Construction Group, collaborating with the Security Services Department, Laboratory Facility Services Department, and external contractors to support the construction, renovation and maintenance of Laboratory secure areas, helping to ensure compliance with security regulations and best practices.
Responsibilities include:
Working with the Special Programs Project Manager to oversee the security compliance for construction and renovation of SCIFs and SAPFs to ensure compliance with all government regulations.
Coordination with Security Services personnel and their government stakeholders to develop physical security specifications, construction security plans, and other applicable portions of accreditation paperwork related to design and construction for assigned projects.
Supporting the construction process of secure areas including submittal reviews, coordinating with Facility Service Department to respond to applicable RFIs, conducting site walks to confirm and document that the physical security design aspects of the facility are being constructed adequately.
Working with Special Programs Project Manager and Facility Services Department personnel to formulate unique physical security mitigation strategies for new and existing secure areas, to include renovation of existing secure area spaces. This includes researching and being aware of new materials, methods, or techniques to achieve certain physical security design aspects.
Helps to make our team an innovation leader in the physical security industry to meet current and future physical security requirements in a cost-effective way, minimizing disruption to current operations.
Supports the Controlled Area Construction Group to develop and/or improve efficiencies and best security practices for the design, construction, and operation of secure areas.
Conducts regular inspections of existing secure facilities to ensure continuing compliance with government security regulations; assists in development of corrective action plans for any physical security deficiencies and helps with the implementation of mitigations and corrective actions.
Requirements:
bachelor's degree
Secure Design or secure construction field experience: 2 to 5 years of engineering/design experience or construction support experience, preferably within the federal facility industry.
Computer skills: Familiarity with A/E or Construction Management software, such as REVIT, CAD, Bluebeam, Procore. Knowledge of business software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office, etc.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil, structural, mechanical or electrical engineering, or related field.
Regulatory compliance experience: The ability to read, understand and apply government regulation, policies and procedures as it relates to physical security design and construction (DoD SAP/SCI Community and Intelligence Community directives and manuals, applicable ICDs, and CNSSAM Red/Black etc.)
