Description

Seeking an Alternative Delivery Design Project Manager with the ability to lead engineering teams in our growing Alternative Delivery practice in Transportation. The ideal candidate will have alternative delivery experience within the transportation community and a history of operational success. You will be expected to support the design process through the project, overseeing and directing technical resources, monitoring the technical aspects of the project, coordinating with contractors and owners and perform design management functions through construction.

Our Transportation Alternative Delivery practice spans across multiple partner firms, including Horrocks Engineers, DRMP, HMB and Rinker Design Associates. You will have the opportunity to leverage more than 4,000 staff in these firms to deliver any type and facet of Alternative Delivery projects (including traditional DB, progressive DB, GEC, Program Manager, etc.) across the United States.

  • This role will be onsite for projects 2-3 days per week.
  • Ideal locations to minimize travel include: Washington, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Utah and Colorado.
  • Travel could be up to 75%.

Key Responsibilities
• The candidate will have proven experience in identifying, directing and managing pre-award and post-award services for design-build projects.
• Proven experience in transportation including highways, roadways, transit and bridges; experience in other service sectors is also of interest (i.e. water, wastewater).
• Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project. Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
• Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client's satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.
• Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
• Mobilize company resources, through coordination with technical groups or partner firms, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
• Proven ability to successfully manage large, multi-discipline assignments is required.
• Participate in development and negotiation of teaming agreements between both builders and subconsultants ensuring that protocols and standards for commercial and risk terms are achieved.
• Facilitate work planning activity, oversee pre-award fee development, profitability analysis, cash management, quality management, and risk/change management.
• Ensure that project controls measures are implemented. Schedule and conduct periodic project reviews to oversee and facilitate successful project delivery performance.
• Oversee development of post-award scope, schedule and fee development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor's degree in engineering field of practice. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification
• 10+ years of working on Alternative Delivery projects
• 10+ years of successful project/program management experience
• Experience successfully delivering on multi-disciplined or large/complex projects.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach that permits effective communication amongst leadership, management, clients, project managers and staff.
• Very strong financial management, team management, and leadership skills; ability to manage and coordinate efforts of various projects to produce budgeted profits and overall results.
• Enthusiastic and resilient attitude with drive to achieve and maximize opportunities.
• Ability to travel as necessary within the United States.
