Duties

* Operate vehicles to inspect the work of subordinates.
* Communicate instructions to workers received from supervisor.
* Prioritize assignments by identifying immediate tasks to be performed.
* Perform repairs on commercial and combat tactical automotive support equipment.
* Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
* Review work while in progress for accuracy and compliance.
* Provide feedback to the supervisor to keep them informed of current progress.
* Perform more complex repairs on heavy mobile equipment.
* Advise workers on utilizing the proper maintenance procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Lead or Supervise. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: communicate instructions, demonstrate proper work methods, work with others; follow established shop procedures, policies, and other directives. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Work is performed on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Work requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning part assemblies and equipment. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Work is sometimes performed from ladders or work platforms at varying heights.

Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Worker must frequently stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time and is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, oils, vehicle exhaust fumes and some inclement weather. Worker is subject to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises and strains.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

Additional information

* This position offers a $24,000 recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed as civilians in the Federal Government. You are considered newly appointed if this is your first appointment as a civilian employee in the Federal Government or if you have a minimum of a 90-day break in service from a previous Federal civilian position. You may qualify with a break in service of less than 90 days only if your previous Federal civilian appointment was a time-limited or non-permanent appointment. Your recruitment bonus will be made in three payments of $8,000. You receive the first payment when you enter on duty, second payment at your first year anniversary and third payment at second year anniversary.. To accept this recruitment bonus, you are required to make a three year service obligation to the Army Reserve Military Technician Program. If you fail to serve the specified period, you may be subject to repay the agency the recruitment incentive.
* New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station. To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment.
* Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
* You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
* One year trial/probationary period may be required.
* Direct deposit of pay is required.
* This is a Materiel Maintenance Management position.
* Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
