We are seeking a diligent and experienced Heavy Civil and Mining Safety Manager to join our team. This critical role involves overseeing safety protocols and procedures on heavy civil construction sites. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in safety management within the construction industry, particularly in heavy civil and mining projects such as infrastructure, bridges, roads, dams, and mines.
The Safety Manager will be the second safety professional onsite to ensure the project team is adhering to state and federal OSHA and MSHA standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Work with Project Management to keep the project safe
* Attend and assist with Morning Meetings (Stretch & Flex)
* Assist with client meetings and reporting
* Supply incident reporting to the Regional Manager
* Maintain and manage incident cases
* Complete site safety audits and submissions
* Manage Personal Protective Equipment supply ordering
* Develop Field Safety personnel
* Conduct an emergency action plan when the Project Safety Manager (PSM) is unavailable
* Continually promote a friendly, safe working environment while building relationships and trust with site employees
* Should be knowledgeable of the PSM's roles and responsibilities to be prepared to step in when the PSM is unavailable
* Other duties as assigned
Experience, Education & Skills
* A minimum of 2 years experience in construction or renewable energy as a Safety Manager or in a Craft Safety role
* An Associate's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or BCSP credentials STSC, CHST, or equivalent experience
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Word Applications, Outlook, and Excel spreadsheets
* Possess the ability to teach and conduct trainings
* Strong communication skills both written and oral
* Must be highly organized
* Possess high attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
* Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills
* Time management and prioritization skills are crucial
* Must have a valid driver's license
* Mine Safety and Health Administration Certification and Blue Card Holders preferred
Working Conditions
* Up to 100% travel is required as projects will be nationally based.
* Construction Site Environment - the physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach, and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
