Job Description

Support clear and consistent reporting through existing systems and methods, work with the business to ensure tools meet the need 40%

1. You will help to bridge the gap between the technical and non-technical audiences; You can communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. You can facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team.

2. Support the work of the Future Defence Infrastructure Services (FDIS) reporting work-streams.

3. Co-ordinating activities in relation to the Reporting Working Group; balancing and analysing data.

4. Facilitate the provision of timely and accurate management information and data to support informed and timely decisions.

5. Ensure data assurance is undertaken and work to drive consistent data provision that conforms to requirements

Collaborate with wider DST teams and the DIO business to provide data and reporting related support 30%

1. Work collaboratively with allocated business area teams to identify improvement opportunities in reporting, including ensuring headlines reach the most appropriate audience and area of responsibility

2. Work with key areas of the business to support reporting consistency and enable a soft transition where contract changes occur

3. Create and lead a positive, collaborative, and proactive working relationship with stakeholders in an inclusive manner.

Contribute to the shaping of measures to ensure meaningful headlines are highlighted and inform the business 15%

1. Support development of performance and impact measurement frameworks - indicators, goals, user needs and benefits - and analyse the performance of a service or product against these, adapting your approach and framework appropriately and in line with any changes.

2. Be a part of developing new measurements and approaches

3. Problem definition and shaping. You can work within a strategic context and communicate how activities meet strategic goals / emerging needs.

Line Management 10%

1. No current line management associated with the post, though you should be able to take on line management responsibilities and supervisory support should the work and team require it.

2. The 10% time allocated is currently utilised in business partnering and up-skilling colleagues in other teams

Personal Development 5%

Gain a rounded knowledge of the data topics feeding through processes to support data quality efforts and business relevance

Person specification

Essential

Experience collaborating with technical SMEs to develop or enhance digital solutions / platforms (that enhance data exploitation).

Ability to network and engage a diverse range of stakeholders into data effort and action

Data literacy, confidence in handling large sets of data

Advanced use of Excel

Experience of use of PowerBI in dashboard creation

Experience of data verification and cleanse

Experience in examining and interpreting large sets of data - include extracting and processing information to find patterns and trends, using technology to analyse data

Knowledge or basic understanding / experience of Microsoft Office 365 services such as SharePoint, OneDrive and Office Group

Desirable

Writing project documentation such as Project Initiation Documentation and outline Business Cases.

Pro-active collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders across Defence and its partners to ensure identification of key stakeholders and ensuring all relevant stakeholders have been engaged.

Support the planning and monitoring of projects using recognised project governance and reporting / planning tools

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to clear blockers or raising issues where appropriate.

Facilitate project workshops / meetings, with documented outputs, actions and reviews to inform the project plan.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
