Senior Engineer - Embedded Systems Integration and Diagnostics

We're looking for a talented Embedded Systems Integration and Diagnostics Engineer to join our clients site in Preston.

Department

The Embedded and Electronic Systems Integration team are looking for a dynamic, experienced engineer to join our team. The team leads Medium Duty platform integration and configuration of software systems and ECUs. Our client work with teams across the globe and specialise in electronic systems integration, vehicles architecture management and validation.

Our team is continuing to grow with skills and experience needed within our electrification, advanced driver assistance and emissions projects across the brand.

In this role you would:

Your tasks will depend on our project needs, but we will need you to:

  • Work from our clients facility in the UK.
  • Work at base site for 37hrs per week.
  • To deliver embedded systems integration and diagnostic solutions, meeting project objectives while managing planning, milestones and KPIs.
  • Lead work with stakeholders to develop integration and test strategy to have the right artefacts needed for system validation on bench, HIL rig and on vehicle derived from requirements.
  • Interface directly with internal and external customers on technical issues and requirements ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Support product development and production issues with practical and robust problem solving methodologies and communicating with suppliers, stakeholders and senior management.
  • Become the recognised vehicle platform system owner for various embedded systems / ECU's / features.
  • Stakeholder in the development of improving functional and systems testing and reporting solutions.
  • Be responsible for the workflow of introducing embedded system engineering changes into production time scales.
  • To work with industry standard vehicle CAN and diagnostic applications and parameter/programming data.
  • To perform design analysis tasks including using D-FMEAs and Six Sigma techniques.
  • To work within a V cycle development process using requirements management.
  • Coach and support less experienced engineers into fulfilling their potential.
  • The position is likely to involve some travel and participation in global embedded projects
  • Work with supplier and supply chain management personnel to ensure smooth process and availability (SSQA/APQP processes).
  • Support and maintain FMEA processes related to the e-Powertrain systems, hold relevant meetings, and create sound relevant DVP&R for validation requirement.

What We're Looking For:

  • Practical experience and working knowledge of embedded electronic, software and systems engineering solutions - ideally from an automotive or related industry field.
  • Experience of delivering/managing embedded system integration projects with a demonstrable ability of achieving objectives both individually and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols and tools, e.g, CAN, J1939 LIN, IP, Vector tools, CAPL
  • Experience and a relevant degree or equivalent qualification within an embedded systems engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of functional safety, cyber security and IATF processes.
  • Unafraid to challenge the status quo, constantly improving the way we do things and a desire to have a real impact and direction in a growing team.
  • Relationship building will come easily to you with the confidence to communicate with a variety of different stakeholders across all levels of seniority.
