NJR are delighted to be working with a leading commercial property company, who is now seeking an Assistant Category Manager to join their team based in Manchester. This role will initially be offered on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Purpose of the role:
To support the delivery of a professional and consistent category management capability for the Hard Services category, driving year on year improvements in service and cost savings/avoidance in nominated areas.
To provide commercial expertise in relevant service line management to external and internal clients, acting as a catalyst for new initiatives; developing appropriate strategies for the Hard Services category; analysing business needs and producing innovative solutions.
To develop and implement group-wide policies, processes and procedures for strategic and operational service line management; maintaining, utilising and developing all systems and eProcurement tools where relevant.
Specifically:
- Supporting the Category managers across the service lines and alignment with the relevant categories for reactive services
- Hard Services point of contact for issues and query resolution
- Supporting performance improvement and effectiveness opportunities across reactive services
- Team player with exceptional problem solving skills
Requirements:
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management. Ability to work across multiple categories.
- Team player and collaborative worker providing strong support to the category managers and support of category management service line expertise
- Project Management: Well-organised with a proven ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Negotiation Skills: experience of negotiation and contract management, reducing costs, and improving service partner relationships.
- Analytical Skills: analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Communication Skills: strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate procurement concepts to internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
