Deputy Financial Controller

£450 per day (via Umbrella)

Remote (Travel to Germany 1/2 times per Month)

3 Month Initial Contract


Our client within the defence space is currently searching for a Deputy Finance Controller to support their German team. Within this role, you would be responsible for managing the company’s records and daily financial activities including but not limited to the following:

  • Primary point of contact and responsibility for recording day-to-day financial activity including general ledger activity for Financial Statement creation and monthly reconciliations.
  • Manages all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Manages the uploading and allocation of financial information from the third party payroll provider
  • Monthly financial variance analysis in support of the corporate reporting process and periodic detailed financial reporting in support of the business.
  • Assist the Head of Finance with the management of accounting and budgeting within the organization. Including the preparations of financial statements required by QinetiQ Group (IFRS and German GAAP)
  • Preparation of year-end financial statements and POC for Audit requirements.
  • Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Filing VAT returns
  • Prepare a monthly analysis of budget-to-actual results detailing events or circumstances that relate to significant variances identified.
  • Continuously evaluate existing financial processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from improvement and in conjunction with the Head of Finance, recommend and implement changes to financial policy, procedure, and work instructions.


Experience Required:

  • Post-Secondary Accounting related diploma or higher from a recognized institution.
  • At or near the completion of the CPA designation.
  • 3 years minimum experience in industry or public practice. A combination of the two is preferable.
  • High degree of proficiency in ERP Software.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and general computer proficiency in standard office tools (MS Office – Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.).
  • ERP Implementation experience.
  • Report writing using Power BI or ad hoc reporting through data manipulation in Excel (Pivot tables etc.)
  • Regulatory reporting experience (VAT, import duties etc)
  • IFRS and German GAAP Reporting Standards Knowledge
  • Multi-Currency exposure.
