Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Tax Operations Manager to join our Group Finance function in Cardiff. The purpose of this role is to lead, motivate and develop a team responsible for the delivery of Operational Tax activities. As a key SME, lead on engagement Group Tax and the divisions in relation to the deliverables.

What you'll be doing:


  • Ensuring Tax Operations tasks are completed in accordance with documented procedures and controls and in accordance with the agreed timetables, to ensure service expectations are always delivered to Group Tax
  • Direct and oversee the reconciliation of Tax accounts with tax submissions, in line with KPIs, to ensure precise accounting and reporting, while coordinating with Group Tax and Group Finance colleagues
  • Establish a robust control framework, consistently review and update processes and risk documentation, and scrutinize all models used for reporting to ensure that strong controls are in place to mitigate risks. Additionally, guarantee that all requests from external and internal audit teams are fulfilled promptly
  • Liaise with Group Tax and Operational areas on all aspects of the Operational Tax outputs from VAT, Corporation Tax, Funds Tax and PSA charges, to ensure the control framework is fit for purpose
  • Manage, inspire, and cultivate the development of employees at all levels in a manner consistent with the company's policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, to optimize the performance of the area
  • Ensure procedures are maintained within the team and cross-trained cover is available for all tasks. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and champion such change, fully engaging with stakeholders accordingly. Continually enhance the efficiency and robustness of tax reporting
  • Lead change projects affecting Operational Tax activities, encompassing planning, impact assessment, resource estimation, test script creation, testing, and implementation, to guarantee the team's ability to seamlessly integrate changes into BAU processes




Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • A qualified accountant, or qualified by acquired experience within a Finance environment.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including excel, word and PowerPoint.
  • Detailed experience of working on a core accounting system and performing ledger postings and reconciliations.
  • Good understand of corporate tax accounting and reporting
  • Experience of spreadsheet design and financial analysis.
  • Experienced people manager able to demonstrate positive performance management.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to review the work of others and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Able to lead a team and coordinate planning and prioritising of tasks.
  • Builds and develops strong relationships with peers and within the Accounting Ops leadership team, as well as acting as a valued business partner to other parts of the business.
