Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Infrastructure & Networks to join our dynamic team at Morrisons.


In this senior leadership role, you will oversee the IT Operations teams, ensuring the efficient operation of our Data Centres, Networks, Platforms, and backend technologies. You’ll collaborate closely with IT decision-makers across the business to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions that drive our organisation forward.

This role is based in our support office in Bradford, West Yorkshire.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Leadership & Strategy - Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of the Infrastructure and Networks team. Design and implement strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements
  • Incident & Service Management - Provide a single point of contact for incident resolution and service requests, ensuring continual monitoring of live systems and efficient ticket processing
  • Collaboration & Support - Work with IT Service and other technical teams to deliver end-to-end support and resolution for all Infrastructure Operations-related incidents.
  • Security & Efficiency - Lead initiatives to ensure the security and effectiveness of networks, platforms, storage, virtual environments, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms
  • Process Improvement - Regularly review and improve IT processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Proactive Management - Develop and implement proactive tasks to prevent future issues, including software patching, performance tuning, and server housekeeping
  • Financial Management - Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analysis for proposed projects and high-expenditure items
  • Backup & Recovery - Oversee the backup and recovery processes for critical services globally, ensuring robust processes are in place
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations and lead IT operational planning
  • Vendor Management - Build long-term partnerships with key vendors and manage the deployment, monitoring, and support of all core IS systems
  • Research & Development - Stay current with the latest technologies and solutions, conducting system feasibility studies and testing
  • Team Leadership - Manage and develop the IT operations team, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, and performance evaluation


The experience and skills we’re looking for:


  • Leadership - Proven experience leading Service Operations/Infrastructure Operations teams.
  • Retail Experience - Experience in a large retail or fast-paced environment
  • Communication - Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate messages to various audiences and influence at all levels
  • Collaboration - Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders to ensure IT services meet their needs
  • Technical Expertise - Expert knowledge of IT operations, data centre operations, enterprise IT environments, cloud computing, and data/voice networks
  • Commercial Acumen - Strong understanding of IT contracts, negotiation, and budget management
  • Management Skills - Strong people management, mentoring, and coaching abilities with a collaborative management style
  • Customer Focus - Demonstrate a clear focus on the customer
