Materials Planning Manager

A manufacturer of safety-critical components sold into aerospace and defense industries is growing. Due to the increased workload, they are looking at streamlining their processes to maintain their high-quality standards without creating any bottlenecks. To bolster their Supply Chain Team, they are now seeking a Materials Planning Manager.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for a team of 2 x Materials Planners and 1 x Team Leader, covering 3 departments within the business. This company has not needed a lot of the processes they require now, so this role is a challenging one, where you will need to win the hearts and minds of existing employees as well as identify areas of change and implement them.

Responsibilities of the Materials Planning Manager include:

• Develop the planning strategy and processes to support the effective planning of parts, materials and production to ensure the business can deliver On Time In Full (OTIF)
• Manage demand planning through MCS process
• Management and Maintenance of BOMs plus oversight of routing information to support accurate and reliable production, parts and materials scheduling using the MRP2 system.
• Manage supplier scheduling and the expediting of parts ensuring their availability to support the production plans.
• Act upon any continuous improvement ideas throughout the plant, influencing internal stakeholders for them to action your plans as their own.

The ideal candidates will be experienced at working in a business that has streamlined their materials planning department, embracing and working with suppliers to become a valued customer. You will have implemented new processes and systems and have a good vision of where you want to get to, with the ability to work out how to get there.
