Job Description
Experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary School, Greenwich
An excellent secondary, mainstream school in Greenwich is looking to welcome a SEMH Teaching Assistant to work on a one-to-one basis with one of their students. We look for a professional with experience supporting studnts with Social, Emotional, Mental Health within a school setting.
Key Responsibilities of our SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Provide 1-1 tailored support to a student with SEMH needs
Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create a positive learning environment
Support the student both academically and emotionally, helping them achieve their potential
Engage with the student in a variety of settings, ensuring they receive the necessary support
Be patient, with a kind and caring approach to student learning
Have good behaviour management abilities
Requirements:
Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs in a mainstream, SEN, or similar educational setting
Strong communication skills, patience, and empathy.
Ability to build positive relationships and foster a supportive atmosphere
Experience working with a variety of professionals, including SENCOs and external agencies
About the Role:
Full-time, long-term position in a secondary school rated 'Good' by Ofsted
1-1 support for a student, with opportunities to engage in wider school activities
Work within an established and supportive trust
known for its commitment to staff and student well-being
Excellent opportunities for professional development
