Director of Data Governance - HUB-00098

Key Responsibilities Establish and execute a data governance implementation roadmap with a wide range of cross functional partners across the organization, iterating the roadmap based on priorities, learnings and changing regulation. Influence organizational leaders and changing organizational behavior to ensure data governance adoption (from data source systems through consumption). Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the companys principal information assets. Own the Point of View for standards in Data Quality, metadata, lineage, provenance, etc. Partner with data engineering teams to deliver while iteratively reinforcing and building upon the longer-term roadmap. Partner with teams across Best Buy to outline the people and processes needed to solve data challenges for compliance, security and regulatory needs. Identify the KPIs and outline key workstreams to successfully deliver a data governance capability. Work with critical technology, business, security and legal partners to deliver state of the art data governance solutions for real-time data systems that support advanced data use patterns in cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) as well as on-prem systems (including Teradata). Collaborate with the key business capabilities leaders throughout the organization to define (iterate) RASCIs for populating and maintaining the data catalog. Integrating new AI technology to accelerate Best Buys journey to data quality metrics and tracking plus quality metadata and lineage. Maintain an inventory of data products with the ability to track key quality metrics (timeliness, accuracy, completion, etc.) Basic Requirements 10 years relevant experience with a masters degree, working cross functionally and collaboratively with multiple technology and business teams to deliver as one team OR equivalent relevant professional experience. Including: 8 years of demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in data and data governance technologies and delivery of technical solutions 2 years experience managing and leading direct reports and teams Experience managing budgets and resource allocation Experience in managing and influencing people in a global environment Understanding of agile software development practices Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience. GCC experience with a US-based company Knowledge and experience with common Data Quality tools such as Collibra or Alation Experience in GCP environment, and familiarity with Dataplex and other tools common in the Google cloud universe Experience with data stewardship, and demonstrated history of building data governance teams and strategies Experience in working in agile environment, including familiarity with scrums, Kanban, and Jira Preferred Requirements Knowledge and understanding of external privacy laws and standards (DPA, GDPR, CCPA) Experience and understanding of semantic layers and assets About Best Buy BBY India is a service provider to Best Buy and as part of the team that will work on Best Buy projects and initiatives, youll help us fulfill Best Buys purpose to enrich lives through technology.
