The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences have a centralised Marketing and Communications Team with responsibility for all Faculty marketing, student recruitment and selection work for taught programmes. This team is vitally important for supporting the Faculty’s recruitment targets and supports the strategic KPIs for SIMD 0-40 entrants, increasing PGT FTE and international student FTE. The income from tuition fees is essential for maintaining and increasing the University’s financial surplus and overall financial position.



The communications activity undertaken by the team has a vital role to play in meeting and growing student number intake targets, as well as improving the profile of the Faculty’s offering as well as its Centres. These activities play a key role in attracting applicants through the presentation of programmes, rankings, and expertise. The Faculty’s portfolio of programmes and Centres is large and diverse, attracting a range of different student types, requiring a myriad of activities and messaging suit to prospective student’s needs. The role will also provide dedicated support for the One Ocean Hub, a prestigious international programme of research for sustainable development, working to promote fair and inclusive decision-making for a healthy ocean whereby people and the planet can flourish.
