Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: L15-L19 (£66,628 - £73,509 per annum)
About the school:
The school’s trust is one of the largest provider of education, care, and support services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities within the UK. The school cater to students aged 6-19 with complex learning difficulties, profound physical disabilities, and/or medical needs. Our aim is to provide memorable experiences and stimulating activities that promote self-esteem and personal independence. Our facilities include a sensory room, rebound therapy, and a hydrotherapy pool.
With the school expanding and undergoing refurbishment to increase our student capacity, they are looking for a dedicated and experienced Head of School to lead this SEN School.
The Role:
As the Head of School, you will be accountable for the operational and educational performance of the school, as well as the financial management and leadership of education and support staff. You will inspire creativity and collaboration, advocating passionately for your students and finding ways to deliver educational outcomes that make a real difference.
Key Duties:
- Establish and sustain the school’s ethos and strategic direction in collaboration with the Principal and governing board.
- Oversee systems, processes, and policies to ensure effective school operation.
- Identify problems and barriers to effectiveness, developing and implementing realistic and timely improvement strategies.
- Monitor progress towards achieving the school’s aims and objectives.
- Allocate financial resources efficiently and effectively.
- Undertake safeguarding duties, reporting and following up incidents in a timely manner and liaising with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
- Promote enrichment, entitlement, and achievement through agreed school policies and practices in partnership with the Principal.
Responsibilities:
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- Experience as a Head Teacher with a track record of success in SEND environments.
- Qualified Teacher Status with additional professional qualifications in a relevant area; Head Teacher qualification (such as NPQH) is preferred.
- Experience as a senior leader within an ASD environment.
- A clear understanding of Ofsted frameworks and safeguarding legislation related to independent schools.
- Experience in quality assurance, such as lesson observations and performance management.
- Proven team management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
