Interim Closedown Accountant (Local Government)

Are you a finance professional with a local government background? Our client, a large unitary local authority, are seeking an Interim Closedown Accountant to establish new year-end processes and help with the closedown of their legacy accounts. This contract will last for a minimum of 6 months, with a strong likelihood of extension. The role offers a competitive daily rate and is primarily remote, with occasional office presence required in the Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement year-end financial close processes.
• Review and manage previous accounts for accuracy and compliance.
• Provide technical finance expertise.
• Prepare and present financial statements and reports.

Key Requirements:

• Local government finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of year-end processes and public sector accounting.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
