A great opportunity has become available for a reliable and skilled Decorator to join a dynamic regional company recognised for developing and training its staff to succeed in their roles. Based on the Isle of Wight, you will join them on a full-time, permanentbasis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £29,709 and excellent benefits.

Key responsibilities as the Decorator will include:

  • Apply paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
  • Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, enamel, and other finishes.
  • Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
  • Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
  • Consider the Client/ Tenant and cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
  • Calculate amounts of required materials, select & purchase from approved suppliers to minimise wastage.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and switch covers prior to painting.
  • Tape off & barrier areas when needed.
  • Apply touchups and second coats. Clean away any paint splatters when finished.
  • Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns, and leave the area clean & tidy when complete.
  • Work on ladders or towers to reach high ceilings or walls.
  • Able to use the phone to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly and concisely understanding the information you need or need to provide.
  • Be comfortable in dealing with tenants and remain professional even when issues are contentious, especially when explaining to tenants that the right repair isnt necessarily the repair they want.
  • Be a team player ensuring lessons learnt, and good practices are shared amongst the team for future benefit of the service.
  • Have a practical approach to health and safety, ensuring that you and others are safe at all times.

What the company are looking for in their Decorator:

  • Over 5+ years trade experience.
  • A full clean driving licence.
  • Being competent within your sphere of expertise.
  • Plastering experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Be competent in a secondary skill (Desirable)
  • A trade specific qualification minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Full current driving license.
  • A DBS check is required before commencement of role.
