What does the business unit do?

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

Technology Solutions and Data Security is delivering the Data and Digital Reform Agenda, which focuses on meeting the department's data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes.

The Director of Consumer Affairs is the statutory office created under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012. Under Sections 109 and 110 of this Act, the Director has significant powers and functions and is supported by Consumer Affairs Victoria. Consumer Affair's Victoria (CAV) is Victoria's consumer marketplace regulator. Their vision is for a fair, safe and competitive marketplace in Victoria.

CAV administer over 30 legislative schemes in Victoria, and they undertake regulatory functions and provide services to support Victorians to exercise their consumer rights and ensure that businesses and rental providers do the right thing. CAV also funds assistance and advocacy services for consumers and renters experiencing vulnerability.

What will the role do?

The senior developer is responsible for the delivery of development application components and work packages for the Consumer Affairs Registration and Licensing applications and the wider regulations portfolio.

They work collaboratively with a team of development specialists and cross-functionally with other key specialists including designers, architects, analysts and testers.

Facilitate and manage the design and delivery of .NET projects, products and applications to meet the changing needs of business units.

Ensuring that the specification and design of new applications, major application enhancements and bug-fixes meet the defined business needs, align with enterprise and solution architectures and complies to standards

What skills and knowledge should the Senior Developer have?

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Proven and hands-on experience as a .NET/.NET CORE Developer or Application Developer.
  • Working knowledge and experience of the ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns (e.g.,
  • Model-View-Controller (MVC).
  • In-depth knowledge of C#, Visual Basic .NET and HTML5/CSS
