Head Employee Relations & HR (Associate Director level)

As head of Employee Relations (ER) & HR, you will be the key people strategist and play a pivotal role in shaping, fine tuning, and implementing ER & HR policies of the company. You will serve as a trusted advisor to both employees and management and play a strategic role in fostering a harmonious work environment adhering to employment laws and regulations. Workplace: Downtown office. During summer, 3 days in office, else 4-5 days in office CANDIDATE PROFILE We are seeking a mature, accomplished ER professional having at least 12 years well rounded experience in all areas of ER & HR. Strong background and understanding of employment laws, and labor relations and sound experience in dealing with and managing unions including collective bargaining are essential PREREQUISITES; those without this experience will not fit the bill and may please refrain from applying, thank you. You have a good track in conducting workplace investigations and resolving complex employee relations issues. You have good knowledge of employment policies, practices, and procedures. Experience in working with a media/news company and dealing with ‘CMG’ or ‘CWA’ or other unions in the media industry will be a huge asset. You are also well grounded in HR best practices, recruiting, training and development, rewards, and recognition practices, coaching and counselling. You have a good university degree; professional certifications will be an asset.
