We are finding that bid management is more important than ever for the defence clients that we recruit for. In particular it's important to have experienced bid managers who can get up and running quickly without missing out on crucial contracts which can be tendered very quickly. This role is an example of this, we're looking for a bid manager to cover the maternity leave of an experienced bid manager for one of our esteemed defence clients. You will be supporting two key Business Lines, Deployable Infrastructure and Vehicle and Mission Systems.

You will be expected to deliver high quality, competitive solutions and proposals in a structured and managed way. You will help continue the development of a highly effective bid winning capability by leading bid teams and ultimately making Bid/no bid decisions leading to contract acceptance. This is a leadership role so strong communication skills are key, as well as experience of leading an entire bid proposal within an engineering environment. The role is based at Cambridge City Airport, with hybrid working arrangements of 3 days a week in the office. Our client is willing to negotiate on rates withing reason across a 12 month contract.

Key Tasks:

• Lead the bid team and all aspects of bid management on assigned bids and tasks to ensure the preparation and submission of winning proposals.
• Lead the multi-functional bid team and approval process in accordance with the Win the Business process.
• Develop, manage and implement bid management plans.
• Ensure requirements are understood to maximise the use of available time of the bid schedule.
• Liaise regularly with all stakeholders to ensure their buy-in to proposals.
• Ensure efficient communication with customers in liaison with the Sales team.
• Determine and manage the bid budget.
• Oversee the final production and delivery of the proposal.
• Carry out ‘lessons learnt' reviews and feedback key points for continuous improvement.

Essential Experience

• Experience of hands on Bid Management within an engineering or technological production environment.
• Experience of leading a bid team, managing resources effectively.
• A comprehensive knowledge and experience of bid management, coupled with strong planning and scheduling skills.
• The ability to develop and clearly express bid solutions and effectively resolve arising issues.
• Stakeholder management skills at all levels from internal engineering teams to senior management and external customers.
• Previous experience of budget management and reporting.
• Commercial and financial awareness.
• A good working knowledge of all MS Office packages.

Desired Experience

• Experience of bid management with a Defence or Aerospace environment.
• Experience of bid management on MoD contracts.
• Project Management experience.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
